Next year the whole Russia will celebrate the 280th anniversary of the transferal of the relics of Saint Alexander Nevsky from Vladimir to Saint Petersburg.

For our monastery cathedral this next year will be remarkable for two important dates: 190 years since the laying of its foundation and 150 years since its final completion, i.e. consecration of the last side-altar. The cathedral is still one of the largest in the city: its area is equal to 1950 square meters.

At present, it is being conveyed to the monastery. The cloister emphasizes on the regeneration of its proper decor and hope to find people who will be able to assist in the revival of the temple.

On the one hand, this once magnificent cathedral, being nowadays in a terrible plight, can be turned again into an adornment of the city. On the other hand, its improvement will contribute to the betterment of the spiritual state of society. Even today, despite its poor facade and the lack of the interior decoration, the cathedral can take pride in having a parish that is the largest in the city: on usual dominical days some 700 people come here, while on the days of great feasts it attracts more than 2000 people. Undoubtedly, once the former dйcor is restored, the churchgoers and peregrines will considerably increase in number. The revival of the temple is of great importance not only for the sisters, parishioners and many other believers. This cathedral is one of the symbols of Ekaterinburg, the face of our city. Hence, the sisters of the monastery seek help from all sympathetic people and hope that their support will make it possible to start the restoration of the cathedral in the near future.
